Job Summary:
The Director, Clinical Business Development, is a strategic leadership role designed to drive clinical revenue diversification for AlignRx member pharmacies. This position focuses on bringing clinical service lines to the AlignRx network (e.g., medical billing, point-of-care testing, longitudinal patient care), while securing partnerships, such as with health plans and business coalitions.

The Director provides clinical subject matter expertise and work side-by-side with the Clinical Services department leadership to ensure that clinical business development initiatives are successfully integrated into daily pharmacy operations and pharmacy practice transformation implementation. By bridging the gap between clinical innovation and commercial viability, this role positions AlignRx as a leader in value-based healthcare delivery and supports the long-term profitability of community pharmacy members.

Essential Job Functions:
Strategy & Innovation:
  • New Clinical Service Lines: Contribute to the design and launch of clinical service offerings (e.g., medical billing, point-of-care testing, longitudinal patient care, and SDOH initiatives) that align with market trends and regulatory requirements.
  • Technology Integration: Proactively identify and recommend community pharmacy technology and medical billing solutions that optimize operational efficiency, clinical documentation, and data analytics.
  • Strategic Insight: Provide clinical insight and strategic leadership for company-wide program development.

External Partnerships & Advocacy:
  • Strategic Alliances: Serve as the primary lead for securing partnerships with health plans, business coalitions, insurance brokers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and state health departments that drive clinical revenue diversification for AlignRx member pharmacies.
  • Policy & Advocacy: Collaborate with AlignRx Government Affairs to analyze intel gathered in the Director, Clinical Business Development role related to policy changes that impact clinical services reimbursement and pharmacy practice.
  • Market Representation: Represent AlignRx at industry conferences and deliver influential presentations to external stakeholders, positioning AlignRx as a leader in clinical innovation.

Vendor Relations & Revenue Growth:
  • Program Profitability: Manage and scale clinical vendor programs, ensuring they provide measurable financial value to member pharmacies.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead the negotiation of agreements and partnerships with clinical service-related vendors, health plans, and business coalitions to expand clinical service capabilities and increase network profitability.
  • Performance Monitoring: Collaborate with Clinical Services department team members to ensure contract deliverables are met for key programs and address escalated vendor or partner issues.

Strategic Alignment:
  • Collaborative Strategy Execution: Partner with Clinical Services and other department leadership to ensure that clinical business development strategies are successfully translated into daily operations.
  • Strategic Guidance: Provide market intelligence and clinical subject matter expertise to the Clinical Services team, fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Cross-Functional Feedback Loop: Establish a consistent feedback loop with the Clinical Services department leadership to evaluate the operational feasibility of new clinical revenue streams and vendor programs.
  • Performance Advocacy: Work with Clinical Services department leadership to ensure that workflows and technologies effectively support the documentation and claims submission requirements for new medical billing initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Travel to on-site business partner locations or for AlignRx meetings, as needed.
  • Represent AlignRx at industry conferences and meetings, as needed.
  • Perform other duties and activities as determined by senior leadership.
  • Serve as preceptor for pharmacy students, if applicable.

Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:
  • Registered Pharmacist (R.Ph.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Active pharmacist license from state board of pharmacy.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in the community pharmacy industry, healthcare management, or related field.
  • Minimum three years’ experience associated with vendor relations.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role with responsibility for overseeing multiple operational functions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience in community pharmacy dispensing workflow and care delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of community pharmacy, healthcare, and pharmacy benefit manager industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the PSAO marketplace, including operations and product/service offerings.
  • Strategic planning experience.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Remote Work Capability: Ability to perform professional duties from a remote setting while maintaining a dedicated workspace.
  • Company Policy Compliance: Maintenance of remote working conditions and equipment in strict compliance with AlignRx policies and procedures.
  • Professional On-site Environment: Maintain a professional office environment while in any work setting.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to the on-site corporate office, client locations, and other designated sites for business as needed.
  • Physical Demands: Standard physical requirements for professional office work, including prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and frequent use of a computer.

Starting pay $151,400 per year, depending on experience.
